Give’m the Boot
If you are like me, you need to build a separate closet just for boots. I am beyond obsessed with boots and very selective when choosing the perfect pair. It is not simply an obsession, more of a necessity based on where I am going and what I am wearing. If you hone your selections skills, you can make do with about 8 pairs. They don’t need to be expensive and there are some great finds out there between $100-$200 (even under $100!)
High heel black ~ This pair is dressy-ish and killer with black skinnies. Short, curvy girls listen up; you can seriously elongate your leg with a black boot that comes just below the knee. The heel must be tapered (not chunky) but no need for stilettos. Keep the profile clean and chic. Ultra suede is the perfect material for this boot. Just be sure to treat and brush them as needed. Be sure they are fitted to the calf not bulky. A techno stretch fabric works well too.
Low heel black tall– This is still a tall boot and is very classic. No fussy buckles needed but you should have some sort of adornment to modernize them. A fabulous everyday boot. Vince Camuto makes a very nice, affordable flat boot.
Low heel black short – This boot comes up over the ankle, has a flat heel and some cool buckle. Nothing shiny please. Think of all the edgy combat boots out now that have that cool rocker vibe without the clunky heel. Perfect for tunics, oversized sweaters and leggings.
Black heel bootie ~ Wear with black, opaque tights and every dress you own and you immediately look like you stepped off the runway. You will never wear a shoe as much as a well cut, comfortable, black heeled bootie. Skip the funky spikes or buckles ~ the cleaner the better! Again, suede is perfect here but must be kept up.
High heel brown ~ A tall boot with a moderate heel in whatever your fave shade of brown happens to be. Nothing too light or mustard which tends to look cheap. Think cognac or chocolate. This will kick up your blue jeans and give you that killer elongated (and slimmer) looking leg without being as dressy as the black. Steve Madden gets it right at about $120.
Low heel brown tall ~ Same idea as above, just more casual. This boot is appropriate for everything from girls shopping day, to carpool lines and coffee dates. Vince Camuto again has a great boot here as does Sam Edelman.
Rain wellies ~ One word ~ Hunter. Be sure to get the cozy bootie socks they sell for lining in the cold months as they will NOT keep your tootsies warm. They come in mid calf and tall in a million different shades and are the best boot to wear in a downpour!
Snow boots ~ Do not wear your wellies in the snow, no traction on ice!!! Get a great pair of lace up, fully lined, all weather boots. Sorel has a perfect boot priced very well.
Splurge boots~ Frye cow girl boots, over the knee stiletto Jimmy Choos with gold heel and absolutely any boot ever made by Chanel, Loeffler Randal or Tory Burch.
